A treacle tart 

In 1883 Lyle, the manufacturer of black treacle, created a sweeter liquid sugar – golden syrup. Thrifty home cooks mixed it with breadcrumbs to very good effect.

Ingredients

Organic Plain Flour [Wheat], Unsalted butter [Milk], Caster Sugar, Free Range Eggs, Sea Salt, Double Cream [Milk], Golden Syrup, Breadcrumbs [Wheat], Lemon.

Place an order up to two weeks before collection. Orders must be placed before 2pm for next day collection. Collect your order from either the shop or the Pudmobile in St Albans. Just choose your location and date during checkout. Doughnuts can only be ready from 2pm on your chosen day.

Everything we bake is handmade in our St Albans bakery every day. Baked to order, from scratch, with care and with no shortcuts.

Puddings should be kept refrigerated and eaten within seven days. But you can freeze them too if you really can’t eat them all at once. Individual puds serve one. Sharing puds serve six-eight. Cooking instructions are included.
